NO LONGER AT EASE.

"Promise Biafara with Backing..."

Only FOOLs start a war relying on "backing" form one person - Obafemi Awolowo.

You guys don't understand how the Yoruba psyche and culture works. It's not like the Igbo.Yes, Awolowo was the most accepted and respected Yoruba leaders in recent times. But he could not arrogate to himself the right to speak on behalf of the Yoruba - even if he promised the Igbo heaven and eartjh, he was speakingas Obafemi Awolowo, and not on behalf of the Yoruba. You would have noticed that most Yoruba did not accept Abiola or Olusegun Obasanjo - they were too pro-north for the avergae Yoruba.

Similarly, many parts of Yoprubaland did not see Obafemi Awolwo as a "Yoruba leader" , the way the Igbo see Ojojkwu, Opara, or Azikwe as their 'leaders'.
In Ondo, Owo, and Ilesha, despite the poipularity of Awolowo's free education policy, Awolwo was always referrd to as "that Ijebu or that Okenne man", never as "leader of the Yoruba"Of the 'Action Group' poltical party, yes!

But that's a different mattere. Many Yoruba were more interested in their business, and in the education of their children than in politics.
Don't judge the Yoruba by your own Igbo parameter. We are different. Period!

Now to your question, which was what drew my attention to this thread:
"Are the Igbos and Yorubas Eternal Enemies?"

No, except in the minds of some misguided Igbo. How do I know? Well, I am a Yoruba married to an Igbo woman, and both our families get along fabulously - we celebrate births and deaths, marriages and child-bearing and all other social functions together.
What more do you want or expect?

As to all of this:

"Youruba wanted to rule the south ...Did not want to work with IGBO. Got out of NCNC to make a point. Crossed the Yoruba mat [aka Awure carpet] to make a point in the parliament to detrhrone Zik.Promise Biafara with Backing, backed out after ministerial appointment and Jail Home Work release for that guy while in Calabar jail. They starved Igbo. they Blockaded IGBo. They shot on sight. They confiscated all IGBo monies to give back only N20 per family. Abiola said that he will be a fool to campaign in the east for presidency and he never did. They 419'ed Nzeribe on arms payment...."

These are ALL in your OVERIPE FANTASY, and in the LIES told you by your parents.

Have you ever talked to any Yoruba directly about any of these fictions?
Why don't you then simply say:

"It was the Yoruba that started the war against the Igbo- and not the Igbo that invaded Yoruba territory?"
You Igbo chaps can be really funny! Only not funny 'haha"! Bet your life and live to tell about it Even from your posting below, you are onto some thing real. Youruba wanted to rule the south ...Did not want to work with IGBO. Got out of NCNC to make a point. Crossed the Yoruba mat [ aka Awure carpet] to make a point in the parliament to detrhrone Zik.Promise Biafara with Backing, backed out after ministerial appointment and Jail Home Work release for that guy while in Calabar jail. They starved Igbo.they Blockaded IGBo. They shot on sight. They confiscated all IGBo monies to give back only N20 per family. Abiola said that he will be a fool to campaign in the east for presidency and he never did. They 419'ed Nzeribe on arms payment. they pretended to be Lawyers getting Bakassi back..all along filling the wrong papers later to come out to declare that Bakassi was never Nigeria in the first place. this is an AG for the nation. Jesus
Go figure.
Anything not Yoruba is for the Good of nigeria, Anything sole for Yoruba is an Oduduwa manifestation and must be that way. Tribal politics is the only way to go. June 12 is ok
Biafra no good..lanre , how much is your life insurance?. Who is the beneficiary?. Igbo or Yoruba?. just checking. It's very sickening, watching on the forum, the so-called Educated Nigerians from the South: The Western YORUBAS and the Eastern IGBOS strangling each other, with a tight hold over each other's throat, while the less educated Northern Hausa Mallams watch with
PALPABLE JOY, at the foolishness of my fellow Southerners, the Yorubas and Igbos.Aren't we just tired of TARKA & DABOH-RING one another. The Igbo Chief Nnamdi Azikwe and the Yoruba Chief Awolowo despised each other until they went to the world beyond.
> The Late Chief Nnamdi Azikwe

> And we the NEW GENERATION IGBOS and YORUBAS do not see eye to eye, with each ethnic group claiming superiority over each other, and pseudo-psycho-analyzing each other.Meanwhile, the Northern Mallams (apologies to Mallam Wane) are having a good day, ruling over us, the so-called educated SOUTHERNERS, THE EVERLASTING YORUBA AND IGBO RIVALS. Why? My fellow Yorubas and Igbos, aren't we tired of the Northern Mallams, telling the more educated SOUTHERNERS how to allocate the OIL REVENUE, which is extracted from the Southern OIL RICH NIGER DELTA BASIN, to beautify the NORTHERN deserts for THE MALLAMS, with super-highways, while the Southern BENIN-ORE Road becomes water filled canyons infested with CROCODILES?
My fellow Yorubas and Igbos, let there be a ceasefire. Do we want the Mallams to rule us forever? Aren't we tired of the Northern handing us rulers like Gowon, Mallam Shagari, IBB, Abacha, AbdulSalami Abubakar, and now Alhaji Mallam "RULE OF LAW, The Great Umaru YarAdua? And when it came time for the YORUBAS to pick a substitute Presidential candidate in 2003, after the death of Chief Abiola, the June 12th presumptive Presidential winner; the Southern Yorubas had to accept Chief Obasanjo as the consolation prize, after waiting and begging the Northern Mallams to release General Obasanjo,a Yoruba ex-political detainee, who was sent to prison by another Northern Dictator General Abacha.
The Great Igbo Chief Zik and the Yoruba Chief Awo couldn't quench their animosity, but we can do better in Modern DAY 21st Century, for our children. We should not allow the rivalry of these two elderly rivals to percolate into our sub-conscious mind, the unending Igbo and Yoruba rivalry, as we all witness day and night, for months and years.

> The Late chief Awolowo.
> Good Night.
